It’s been 3 (or more) weeks since the last update and we’ve left Australia behind, for the green and pleasant lands of New Zealand. We are closing in on Johnny E’s hometown, finding ourselves in Minden, just 11 miles behind target.

I’m traveling again for a week, so I’ve included the graphs in this update. See below. Incredibly, Johnny E is coming up on completing his annual goal, with 95% complete! Matt Brock is also crushing it, at 68%, with just over half the year gone.

We have now left Southern Australia and entered New South Wales. Along the way we passed Mingary Creek and Cockburn, closing in the first real town in a thousand miles.

We are 162 miles behind target, with some disgusting weather coming to make matters worse. On the positive side, we’re only a couple of weeks away from our quarterly annual meeting. Exciting.

We find ourselves in the Wartaka region of South Australia, 124 miles behind target. There’s been nothing but dirt for 100 miles. I hope no poor soul has followed Google’s advice and walked this route.

We are now midway across “South Australia”, which is also midway across all of Australia. We are passing Koolgera, which appears to have four houses. Earlier we passed “Pink Lake”, which gets mixed reviews…

Mega Challenge: Week 69

We are approximately a quarter way across Australia, cruising along National Highway 1. The landscape is flat, with little to see or do. Hat’s off to anyone brave enough to walk, run, or ride this route in real life. There are no towns or villages, no hotels or waterparks for me to highlight the reviews of. Nothing.

We are 7 miles ahead of target, with other 10,000 miles completed and 6,000M remaining. Blimey.

And into the outback we go. Two hundred and twenty miles into Australia and we’re north east of Woolocutty, travelling along fairly remote roads. I suspect our view won’t change much for the next thousand miles.

We remain -55 miles behind target. Not terrible, as Carlin is still recovering, I have a pinched nerve, and dad told me Chris has been moaning about his knee. We’re not firing on all cylinders.
